What would you use to build an enlargement of a Rubik's Cube?

I have this project for school, where we have to pick any object and enlarge it by 6 and build an exact replica of it. I dont want to use wood or anything, anything i can find at a crafts store. And i also need to make every layer spin.

If you can give me some ideas, i would really appreciate it! :)

It would not be difficult to make a 6x scale cube out of cardboard. Even making three horizontal layers that turn on a central axis would not take too much effort. If this is acceptable, I'd say go for it. If not, I would not recommend attempting a fully functional cube.

A fully functional cube would be very difficult. The seemingly simple cube belies its internal complexity. Have you ever taken a cube apart? It has 6 rotating center faces shaped like a + sign as you look at it from any face. In addition, the back side of the center faces are carefully curved to specifically hold the lobes of the other pieces. This central unit alone would be a daunting challenge to manufacture.

All pieces other than the center faces are held together by carefully shaped lobes that simultaneously allow them to turn in multiple directions. To replicate these lobes will require solid pieces (i.e. wood, not cardboard) and a tremendous amount of time carving them to the correct shape.
